Our startup for this week is ! Helping to improve care for the elderly through a home care management software tool. Through this tool, carers can become more compliant and efficient with their work, optimising care for clients.
Birdie does all this through its carer app, helping professionals to better plan their care for clients, log and track details of their care, and check-in using GEO location. This can help carers to better organise their days, and care managers to better manage their staff.
Birdie was launched in 2017, and since then has secured 拢8.5 million in funding from AXA and Kamet Ventures. This has been used to accelerate expansion throughout Europe and the UK. The startup has also won numerous prizes for its outstanding services, and has revolutionised elderly care – helping to keep people out of care homes, and stay in their own space for longer.

Birdie’s Carer App
Through the app, Birdie records every visit from the carer; logging details of medication, client preferences and any risk information carers may need to be aware of. Additionally, carers will also be able to look back on previous client visits, meaning client care can be kept track of like never before.
Birdie also offers a family app, available for client’s family members who want to check in and keep updated on their care.
Family can be an important part to client care. This app helps to keep members of the family updated on visits, and important details of their loved one’s care.
Alongside the app, Birdie also offers a range of home sensors, providing carers and family members with 24/7 insights. These sensors can alert users when there鈥檚 been a fall in the house, helping to reduce ill-health of the elderly by increasing response rates when something goes wrong.
Through this, Birdie has helped carers to streamline their work, improving elderly care overall, and helping people to stay in the comfort of their own homes for longer.
