A MAJOR tech conference that stemmed from a landmark report written by former Skyscanner chief Mark Logan will be a 鈥榞ame-changer鈥� for the industry in Scotland, according to one of the leading voices in Scottish entrepreneurship.The Raising Partners Live conference in Glasgow has been hailed as an opportunity to advance Scotland鈥檚 entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The May 10 event which will bring together the tech industry鈥檚 investors, industry experts and entrepreneurs is designed to empower start-up and scale-up tech businesses to access capital.
The conference is part of Raising Partners鈥� mission to 鈥渓evel the playing field鈥� and empower entrepreneurs through expert guidance and education to give them clarity, confidence and conviction when it comes to raising investment.
Sean McGrath, CEO of Entrepreneurial Scotland, believes Scottish start-ups have the talent and potential to be significant players on the global tech stage, and that a thriving tech community will act as a catalyst to the nation realising its potential 鈥� beginning with the May 10 event.
He said: 鈥淪cotland has the talent to punch well above its weight on the world stage in tech 鈥� that鈥檚 why we鈥檙e constantly looking for ways to remove friction and create a clear path for Scottish tech entrepreneurs to succeed.

The highly anticipated conference has been funded by The Scottish Government鈥檚 Technology Ecosystem Fund, which was launched following the 2020 Logan Report, an independent review of the Scottish technology ecosystem.
The Logan Report was authored by start-up and scale-up expert Mark Logan, who during close to five years as chief operating officer at Skyscanner 鈥� one of Europe鈥檚 most successful start-ups 鈥� oversaw huge growth culminating in a 拢1.5bn acquisition in 2016.
The Logan Report recommended the development of a 鈥榳orld-class technology sector鈥� in Scotland, calling for greater investment in activities that assist entrepreneurs based in Scotland by providing more opportunities for peer learning and networking, something Helena Murphy, the event organiser and founder of Raising Partners, believes Raising Partners Live will provide.
Ms Murphy, a Glasgow-based entrepreneur and investor, said: 鈥淪cotland is showing signs of becoming a fertile entrepreneurial ecosystem, but there鈥檚 still a long way to go. Often, businesses have all the ambition but lack the knowledge, guidance and support needed to truly compete on the world stage.
鈥淭here are so many incredibly talented people in Scotland鈥檚 tech industry 鈥� by getting them all in one room to build a supportive community, and by giving them the tools and knowledge to thrive, it could be a game-changer
鈥淭he investment landscape and the challenges facing businesses are changing all the time. Whether its recessions, intensive periods of growth, a global pandemic or supply chain challenges, companies need to use every bit of support available.鈥�
The event, which will take place at the University of Strathclyde鈥檚 Technology & Innovation Centre (TIC), will feature an investor panel on 鈥榃hat we wish start-ups knew about raising investment鈥� and an entrepreneur panel entitled 鈥榃hat I wish I knew before raising money鈥�.
There will also be opportunities for guidance on pitching to investors and a practical guide to closing a Seed Round. Spaces are limited at the event, which will also be streamed live online across the world.
Raising Partners was founded in 2017 has supported 160 companies and managed 46 successful fundraises 鈥� generating more than 拢46 million for ambitious UK companies.
Among them is Celtic Renewables, who Raising Partners supported on a large scale fundraise and accompanying equity crowdfunding campaign, helping the Edinburgh-based Biofuel company achieve a total raise of over 拢3.7m from almost 2,500 investors.
