New heart rate study reveals the most popular love songs to make your heart race, just in time for Valentine鈥檚 Day.

A new report by thortful.com discovered how listeners鈥� heart rates reacted when listening to some of the world鈥檚 most popular love songs. Using high tech heart rate tracking equipment, they compiled a list of the top 20 songs to get people鈥檚 hearts racing. Thortful analysed Spotify playlists with the words 鈥楲ove song鈥� in the title. The top songs and artists from these playlists were then analysed and collated.
Top Beats
According to the findings, Shania Twain鈥檚 romantic 鈥淵ou鈥檙e Still the One鈥� came out on top, making volunteer鈥檚 heart rates bump up to an average of 71.9 beats per minute, rising 9.5 compared to their average resting heart rate. Also featuring in the top five were Phil Collins classic 鈥淎gainst All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now)鈥�. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Titanic theme 鈥淢y Heart Will Go On鈥�, the Celine Deon belter, came out at number 4 in this list, increasing participant heart rate by 8.8 beats per minute. 80鈥檚 legend Bryan Adams made it into the top five twice, with hits 鈥淗eaven鈥� and 鈥�(Everything I Do) I Do It For You鈥�.
Trends
It seems that Canadian artists have the potential to set our hearts racing with Shania Twain, Bryan Adams and Celine Dion all hailing from Canada. Another clear trend was movie moments which seem to set pulses soaring; 鈥楢gainst All Odds鈥�, from the movie of the same name, Titanic Soundtrack and the iconic 鈥�(Everything I Do) I Do It For You鈥� from 鈥楻obin Hood: Prince of Thieves鈥�.
Romantic Sing-Along
Karaoke classic 鈥楾otal Eclipse of the Heart鈥� by Bonnie Tyler, came in at number six, whilst more modern songs still made the cut, like Alicia Keys鈥� 鈥楴o One鈥�, which made heartbeats increase by an average of 8.2 beats per minute.
