London-based insurance start-up Dinghy has announced the appointment of Dorian Zanker as CEO as part of its strategy to accelerate its growth in the UK and international freelancer business insurance market. Dorian has a background in successfully building online insurance distribution platforms and has worked for a number of years for Dinghy鈥檚 parent company, the Kingsbridge Group.
Dorian鈥檚 appointment is complemented by a number of other important hires, with Andrew Els joining in business development and Julian New and Ross Pounds strengthening the marketing team.
Dinghy has rapidly carved out a distinctive position in the UK insurance industry, thanks to its ground-breaking approach. Established in 2017, the business offers flexible Professional Indemnity insurance cover to freelancers and gig-workers through its 鈥榤obile-first鈥 platform, with customers able to flex their coverage depending on their needs.聽 This allows them to save money and remain fully covered even when on holiday or between jobs.
Dinghy has already caused quite a stir in the industry, having been listed as one of the 鈥淭en insurtech start-ups to watch in 2018鈥 by The Insurance Post, as well as one of the 鈥30 best small companies to watch鈥 by The Silicon Review. In addition, Dinghy was recently identified as the most disruptive insurance business in the UK in the 鈥楧isruption50鈥 index.
Commenting on his appointment, Dorian said: 鈥淚n a world increasingly demanding tailored solutions that meet people鈥檚 actual insurance requirements, Dinghy is ideally positioned to serve the needs of the UK鈥檚 ever-growing community of freelancers and self-employed professionals.
I am therefore delighted to join the team. The work co-founders Edward Woodcock, Robert Hartley and Ben Wilks have done in building Dinghy from the ground up has been outstanding. The potential for growth at Dinghy is huge, and I鈥檓 looking forward to working with the whole team on the journey ahead.鈥
