Search engine platforms have been rolling out new features, especially since AI search features became the norm. Google has been one of the leads, with new ways for users to obtain information, and its competitors like Bing with Copilot, are no different. Opera, a long-standing browsing platform is now joining in, as they鈥檝e added more features to their portfolio. Opera has released its new browser, Opera One, now for Apple users.

With a full screen interface and easy to use controls for iOS. Those who have used the Opera One desktop version may notice the uniqueness of this design as compared to the other. 鈥淥ur research shows mobile phone users are six times more likely to be happy than not, after switching away from their system鈥檚 default browser,鈥� shared Jona Bolin, Product Manager at Opera, and spoke on how they want to go above the other popular browsers like Chrome.
鈥淪o with Opera One for iOS, we want to further raise the bar and deliver a better browsing experience versus what users will find pre-installed,鈥� Bolin said. On this new update, there鈥檚 also a 鈥淏ottom Search鈥� feature, that has the search bar at the lower end of the screen, for better accessibility and usability, especially on larger devices.
Opera One for iOS is designed to maximise screen space and minimise distractions. The browser interface smartly hides elements not in use and adjusts the colour of the status bars to match the website being visited for a more immersive browsing experience.

Aria, the built in AI on Opera One makes searching much better and has different features like text and code generation and real-time web results. Aria also now supports image creation with Google鈥檚 Imagen2 tech for users to directly generate AI images on the internet browser.
With the voice input feature, users can get a hands-free experience on browsing, without the need to type. On a release, Opera explained how the image generator works, saying, 鈥淯sers simply need to provide Aria with a prompt, and the browser AI will create an image based on that input. Users can further refine Aria鈥檚 creation until it鈥檚 exactly what they want, as well as copy the image to the clipboard, save it, share it 鈥� even set it as the device鈥檚 wallpaper.鈥�

Opera Growing In User Popularity

Following the browser choice ballot that was cast in the European Union, Opera for iOS has seen a more and more of an increase in popularity, with a 63% growth in new users across the EU. Perhaps, users are actually going for alternatives to pre-installed browsers. Opera鈥檚 focus on speed, security, and innovation appears to be resonating well with the market.
And, as for the future for the web browser, Bolin shared, 鈥淭his is just step one. We plan to continue developing our vision of the browsing experience on iOS in the months ahead.鈥� Opera intends to keep refining the browser, with user feedback and functionality in mind. This is a great update for the company.
