OpenAI has announced an update that changes how ChatGPT stores facts about each person. Instead of working with just some details, the platform now looks at entire conversations. OpenAI announced this one their socials and website, confirming that memory references now work together with earlier 鈥渟aved memories鈥� while also drawing on chat logs from previous sessions.
Developers have clarified that two checkboxes now sit in the settings panel. One handles the earlier memory store, while the new option lets ChatGPT draw on all prior discussions for context. Those paying for Plus or Pro have early access, with Team and school-focused accounts scheduled to see it after a short wait.
People in the UK, European Union, and other nearby regions might need to wait. No firm date has been shared, but the official line is that it will arrive eventually. Standard users could also be excluded from this upgrade, at least for now.

As an example, if a user spent days discussing cooking tips, the system would recall those preferences. Next time there鈥檚 a query about meal planning, ChatGPT might bring up recipes that match those tastes without prompting. This approach is designed to save time and cut down on repeated explanations.
People uneasy about confidentiality can choose to turn off both memory features. Doing so halts that deeper tracking, returning ChatGPT to a more limited mode that doesn鈥檛 blend older interactions into the conversation. The company has also introduced a Temporary Chat option for those who need extra privacy on a case-by-case basis.
The concept has attracted fans who value convenience, though a segment of commentators questions the idea of letting an AI compile a long record of personal data. There is no direct tool to edit or delete the chat history that fuels this enlarged memory, which is why settings and Temporary Chat toggles serve as important lines of defence.
