Gigable is a decentralised marketplace for gig economy shift work, specialised in delivery. The company connects independent businesses directly with the gig economy community, where they can choose gig workers to work with based on their ratings and experience.
The platform is a truly end-to-end experience incorporating a vast array of functionality for every business, including gig scheduling and management, gig worker live location-tracking, automated delivery allocation and management, payments, and a two-way rating system.

How did you come up with the idea for the company?
I was inspired by super-apps like WeChat while on a trip to China and Hong Kong as part of my MBA. Seeing how well super-apps like these fit into society over there really made me think that there was a gap in Europe for a similar app, but focussed on the world of work.
Realising work is obviously an enormous space, I started to research and became intrigued by the gig economy as a segment to focus on. It was and still is the perfect community to build an app – like the one I envisioned – around; it is fundamentally a decentralised type of work where workers have more control; it is largely made up of younger people; it is growing at an enormous rate, and; it is very fragmented and therefore would benefit from some structure.
Gigable’s founding has therefore always been rooted in the gig worker community itself and building an all-encompassing app for them, something we are proud to be making leaps forward on all the time.

How has the company evolved over the last couple of years?
Like many successful start-ups, identifying and satisfying your primary customer with a great value deal is the first real step forward in commercialisation. While our community of gig workers is an absolutely critical growth factor for us – and our raison d’être – the engine of our growth is the businesses who use us as they ‘post’ and pay the gigs (shifts) on the platform.
To serve our gig workers we must, most importantly, have abundant opportunities on the platform, and to serve the businesses we must also have enough gig workers. It’s a virtuous cycle, but the cycle starts with the business. This means that as the company has evolved the depth of technical development and value-proposition building on the business side of the marketplace has been immense.
What can we hope to see from Gigable in the future?
Now that we have reached a critical point of market leadership in terms of software capability on the business side of the platform, we can now refocus some of our energy on some unique and very exciting updates on the gig workers’ side, specifically the mobile app and the payments capabilities there.
There will be some big announcements here in the near future!
