What do you think makes this company unique?

What makes Imperva unique is the breadth of our offering, and the depth of our research into new and existing threats – which means we’re perfectly placed to help organisations keep pace with the threat landscape. In recent years, digital transformation projects have accelerated at an unprecedented rate and organisations are more data-driven than ever before. As a result, most businesses now have a complex ecosystem of APIs and applications operating in multi-cloud environments that are hard to secure.

The problem is compounded by the fact that advanced data processing increasingly occurs not just within the network, but also at the edge, and within application or development environments. This means, in order to be effective, security has to operate across all areas at once, yet many security vendors still treat them as separate security issues. Imperva was the first security leader to build a unified security platform that protects organisations across the edge, applications and data: allowing our customers to uniquely analyse and manage complex and automated cyber risks in a single place.

How has the company evolved over the last couple of years?

At Imperva, our goal is to be the comprehensive digital security leader, so we’re constantly looking for new ways to help our customers improve their individual security posture, and support businesses in keeping pace with new risks. Whether through acquisitions, internal development, or fresh research, we’re always working on expanding and improving upon our offerings.

Over the past few years, this has also meant focusing more closely on protecting organisations’ ‘crown jewels’ – the data that underpins their services and offerings – so that security and development teams can work cooperatively without altering code or slowing down the development lifecycle.

We’ve also seen increasing concern surrounding the rising volume of API abuse. We’ve worked to enable customers to build security into their systems at the data level, supporting them in finding new ways to approach API protection.

What can we hope to see from Imperva in the future?

Our goals will be the same as always – helping organisations adapt to new and evolving threats through a unified approach. Too many organisations still tackle data security with a patchwork of technologies which treats data, applications and edge computing as separate security considerations.

This approach is both expensive and ineffective, often leaving important data unmonitored and unprotected. This has been amplified by the move to the cloud, as many organisations migrating to the cloud have found that their service provider’s built-in security tools aren’t fit for their purposes.

At Imperva we will continue to bolster our api and application security solutions and are going to continue improving our Data Security Fabric offering, which helps organisations discover, classify, and protect all their data quickly, no matter where it’s stored.
