With our super limited runs and ever changing rotation of colour-ways, you will share your trousers 鈥� but not the limelight.听Founded by New Zealander听Ashlee听Ackland听in 2017, Sparklebutt can be seen popping up at parties and festivals around London, Sydney and Auckland.

How did you come up with the idea for the company?
听
I have worked as an event producer for the last 10 years and it was while I was working in festivals. I originally started Sparklebutt in 2017, I was听being commissioned听by a few friends to make some sequin听flares and other costume听bits. It was going ok, but it wasn鈥檛 until about 6 months in when I noticed the gap in the market for male festival costumes 鈥� especially sequins 鈥� that the company really grew.
I noticed all the 鈥榝estival brands鈥� were targeting females but so many men at the festivals were also looking to dress up! So I made a few pairs of male leggings, put them up online and it really grew from there!

What advice would you give to other aspiring female entrepreneurs?

Research before you launch and make sure there is a gap in the market for what you鈥檙e offering. If you have something unique to bring to the table 鈥� no matter how niche 鈥� it鈥檒l be a much easier sell than trying to compete with a whole bunch of people on something really broad! Even if your product isn鈥檛 particularly original or unique, bring your uniqueness to your branding.听
And a bonus one 鈥� done is better than perfect. Don鈥檛 get stuck on the website and the logo and all that fluffy stuff. Just start with selling within your network and then worry about all of that other stuff later once you鈥檙e a few sales in and have proven your concept!听

What can we hope to see from听Sparklebutt听in the future?
听
Worldwide sparkle-domination! New colours, more sizes, maybe another product added to the mix. We used to put on underground disco鈥檚 in a basement in Dalston. Once we can dance together again I鈥檓 desperate to put on another one of those and have a boogie with all of our customers!
