Yonder is a lifestyle credit card that rewards members with 鈥渢he best things to eat, drink and do in the city鈥�, while helping them build good credit habits at the same time. The startup was founded by Clearscore alumni Tim Chong, Harry Jell and Theso Jivajirajah with a mission to rebuild the relationship that many people have with credit in the UK, through unique rewards that challenge the offering from other rewards credit cards that can be hard to redeem and often feel 鈥渟tuffy鈥� and 鈥渋rrelevant鈥� to modern life.
Built for 鈥渃ity adventurers鈥�, Yonder鈥檚 rewards programme centres on the discovery of curated local experiences that encourage members to explore more of their city. Its dining and drinking rewards partners include BAO, 45 Jermyn St, Crust Bros and Swift, alongside entertainment partners like Lion King, ABBA Voyage and Stranger Things, and fitness partners like Boom Cycle, Kobox and Reformcore.
Incorporated in 2020, Yonder has raised a total of 拢82.85m in equity and debt funding from VCs including Seedcamp, Northzone, LocalGlobe and RTP Global, alongside angel investment including Frank Strauss (Deutsche Postbank), Matt Robinson (GoCardless), Sharmadean Reid and Rio Ferdinand. This includes a Series A fundraise of 拢62.5m which was the largest consumer fintech raise in Q2 in 2023.
The fintech aims to challenge boundaries in the credit space, with a product that makes credit a more seamless and 鈥渂eautiful鈥� experience for customers – no activations, vouchers or pre-bookings are required when visiting an experience for example – and through unique initiatives like Send Points; the ability to send and receive points to and from other members in the app.
Since achieving FCA approval in just nine months and launching in 2022, Yonder members have spent more than 拢82m, saved 拢500,000 in FX fees and redeemed more than 拢600,000 in rewards value.
