About TXO Systems

TXO is a circular economy partner on a mission to transform technology for a more sustainable future. Working across industries, including telecoms, rail, transportation, and data centres, it uses circular economy principles to extend infrastructure lifecycles, lower costs, and reduce environmental impact.

Founded in 2005 in Chepstow, Wales, as Transmission Only, TXO initially focused on keeping networks connected. Today, TXO drives more sustainable, efficient, and resilient technology lifecycles. It works with over 150 customers around the world, helping them rethink how they build, manage, and renew technology infrastructure.

TXO facilitates a sustainable market for reusing, reselling, recycling, and purchasing refurbished equipment from 1500+ globally recognised manufacturers with over 5 million parts in stock worldwide. Each year. It processes around 2.5 million new parts, repairs 13,000 products, and recycles 1,880 tonnes of waste material.

Telecoms, a major e-waste producer, is a key market for TXO, which partners with BT, AT&T, and Orange to drive industry change through repair, refurbishment, and reuse.

TXO鈥檚 biggest challenge is changing outdated industry mindsets. While education and thought leadership can help shift perceptions, TXO believes the most effective way to drive change is partnering with forward-thinking companies and delivering results – proving the business case for circular practices.

One such company was BT. TXO has been working with BT Group for over 15 years, supporting its ambitious goals of being a net-zero and fully circular business by 2031. While many telecom operators have net-zero targets, few set specific circularity goals. BT and TXO see this model as essential to achieving net zero, aiming not just to meet the target but to set a blueprint for the wider industry. As part of its Exchange Clearance Operation (ECO) program, TXO has supported BT in reusing, reselling and recycling over 200 tons of copper cable and 2000 tons of lead-acid batteries, extracting nearly 3000 tons of legacy assets, and generating a 4 million pound net return.

鈥淭he partnership is good for the environment and good for the sustainability of our business. It supports our commitment to address the rising e-waste challenge and support the circular economy while simultaneously extracting maximum value from the equipment removed, consolidating the footprint of our estate and reducing our energy consumption from redundant and less efficient infrastructure.鈥 – Peter Bell, Managing Director for Fixed Network at BT

TXO also played a crucial role in managing the decommissioning of Norway鈥檚 5G network upgrade with Telia. It was the first operator in Norway to upgrade to a nationwide 5G network but was able to mitigate the impact of this through reuse or recycling.

鈥淥ver 70 tonnes of used telecom equipment were assessed through TXO鈥檚 advanced technology. This initiative prevented thousands of parts from ending up in landfills, with 622 components reused within Telia鈥檚 network and 1,723 sold to operators in 35 countries. More than 8,000 parts were processed for material recovery, showcasing TXO鈥檚 commitment to minimizing e-waste.鈥 – Camilla Watz Johannessen, Head of Sustainability at Telia Norway.
